Many home buyers have thought they found the perfect Staten Island house, signed the dotted line and believe they’ve watched enough home improvement shows to know if they’re getting a good deal. And then some make the mistake of skipping a home inspection in order to save a little cash. Do the right thing by you and your dream home and hire a home inspector!

The home inspection consists of a very detailed look throughout the home. The main goal of a home inspection is to make sure that the home is safe to live in.For example, the inspector will take a close look at the roof to make sure it is well intact. Right in the heart of Staten Island, just minutes away from the Staten Island Mall, lies Lighthouse Hill, a quaint neighborhood full of greenery and large, open houses. Lighthouse Hill lies right between a large array of parks and is only minutes away from both the mall and historic Richmond Town, giving residents a way to experience any range of environments. The hill's name comes from Staten Island Range Lighthouse, also called the Ambrose Channel Range Light, or affectionately called the Staten Island Light. The lighthouse is the rear range lighthouse companion to the West Bank Lighthouse.

About the lighthouse

A 90-foot tower built in 1912, it sits about 5 miles northwest of its companion, 141 feet above sea level on Lighthouse Hill (also called…

Ralph’s Famous Italian Ices have been a staple of Staten Island's summers for the past 90 years. They offer hundreds of flavours and many different types of ices, smoothies, drinks, sundaes, and more.

History

Ralph's Famous Italian Ices began in the hands of Ralph Silvestro. Silvestro came to the United States from Italy when he was a young man and began making his ices in 1928, selling them throughout Staten Island without any retail locations. His treats quickly became a Staten Island summertime favourite and earned him enough to open his first retail location in 1949, on Port Richmond Avenue.

In 1966, Ralph decided to retire and left his two daughters, Lucile and Elise, to continue the family business. They expanded the business further and…

South Beach is a neighborhood on the East Shore of Staten Island, one of the five boroughs of New York City, USA. It is situated immediately to the south of the Staten Island side of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and directly east of the beach are the two land masses of Hoffman Island and Swinburne Island.

History

Once referred to as Graham Beach, the area was originally a summer beach colony consisting of many  bungalows and tents. In fact, in the early 20th century, summer homes used to be the dominant type of real estate in South Beach, even with an organized and developed series of homes known as Bungalowtown,

Located nearby was Warren Manor, a residential development that was demolished in the 1950s. It was destroyed because the government…

Lower Todt Hill in Staten Island is a residential neighborhood located just south of the Staten Island Expressway between Todt Hill Road to the east and Manor Road to the west. Lower Todt Hill is surrounded by beautiful areas like Todt Hill, Emerson Hill, and Castleton Corners. I am going to take you for a walk through this lovely neighborhood and tell you a little bit about what we have here and why we are so proud of it. A lot of the houses in this area have been family owned for many years, and as time goes on, they get passed on or sold to newer generations. I happen to be one of those people who live in a home that was built by my in-laws. My husband and I owned it and now my daughter and her family own it. If you take a walk down the streets of

Staten Island is divided into three major parts; North Shore, Midland, and the South Shore. Each of which sounding exactly like what it is. The North Shore is the northern area of the island, Midland is the middle section of the island, and the South Shore is the lower region of the island.

Contrasting to New York City's reputation of business, the lowest part of the island, South Shore is a beautiful suburban area ready for anyone, especially a family.
