Tottenville is located at the very southernmost tip of Staten Island. The South Shore neighborhood is rich with Victorian architecture, much of which is situated on Tottenville's tree-lined streets, and because of its proximity to the Outerbridge Crossing and New Jersey, the neighborhood is ideal for those who commute.

History of Tottenville

Similar to many towns bordering Tottenville, the community was once home to Native Americans, and there's a large Native American burial ground in Conference House Park. The Conference House itself was built in the late 17th-century and was the site of the Staten Island Peace Conference in 1776, a conference that was instrumental in ending the Revolutionary War. Over the centuries, Tottenville has been a factory and shipyard town, a hub for oystering, and these day, a popular residential suburb.
