History of Arrochar

During the mid-nineteenth century, immigrants from Scotland an area just a few miles from both the Narrows and the island's Lower Bay and named it after the Glasgow village where its first Scottish settler, W.W. MacFarland, was born. But before MacFarland or any other Europeans came along, the Lenape Indian tribe called the neighborhood home. Now, the neighborhood is home to a culturally-diverse group of residents.
