History of New Springville

New Springville was established in the late 17th century. Once a rural swath of land fed by fresh water springs (hence its name), New Springville remained that way well into the 1960s when retail stores began to spring up all over the neighborhood. In 1973, the Staten Island Mall was built, propelling New Springville into a commercial and retail hub.
