French Huguenots settled Annandale back in the mid-1800s, and the name of the town itself is a derivation of one of those early French settles, Anna Seguine. Later in the 20th century, Annadale's shores became the home of Spanish immigrants and called the Spanish Camp. These days, Annadale is considered an upscale, affluent neighborhood populated with tree-lined streets and attractive homes.

In fact, given that Annadale is a community built based on a its proximity to the train station located on the north side of the neighborhood, shopping, restaurants, and other businesses are convenient to most parts of Annadale, and well-respected public and private schools are located throughout the neighborhood. The Blue Heron Park Preserve serves as the focal point of Annadale. The 169-acre "Forever Wild" park and nature preserve is teeming with diverse flora and fauna, providing residents of the neighborhood an escape from hectic city life.

Transportation in Annadale
The Staten Island Railroad stops at the Annadale train station situated to the north of the neighborhood, and both the Huguenot and Eltingville train stations are also convenient to Annadale's residential areas. Car commuters to New Jersey can take Richmond Parkway for quick access to the Outerbridge Crossing, while commuters looking to access Manhattan can cross the island to the St. George Ferry terminal via Victory Boulevard and Forest Hill Road. However, given the convenience of public transportation, most may prefer to utilize the train or one of the local and express buses that stop along on Annadale Road and Richmond Avenue over driving.
