Many home buyers have thought they found the perfect Staten Island house, signed the dotted line and believe they’ve watched enough home improvement shows to know if they’re getting a good deal. And then some make the mistake of skipping a home inspection in order to save a little cash. Do the right thing by you and your dream home and hire a home inspector!

The home inspection consists of a very detailed look throughout the home. The main goal of a home inspection is to make sure that the home is safe to live in.For example, the inspector will take a close look at the roof to make sure it is well intact. They will also check to see if there is any structural or mechanical damage such as broken heating systems, or a collapsing floor. The basement will…

Right in the heart of Staten Island, just minutes away from the Staten Island Mall, lies Lighthouse Hill, a quaint neighborhood full of greenery and large, open houses. Lighthouse Hill lies right between a large array of parks and is only minutes away from both the mall and historic Richmond Town, giving residents a way to experience any range of environments. The hill's name comes from Staten Island Range Lighthouse, also called the Ambrose Channel Range Light, or affectionately called the Staten Island Light. The lighthouse is the rear range lighthouse companion to the West Bank Lighthouse.

Who Am I?

Hi everyone, my name is Joyee Tan, and I am an intern working at Tom Crimmins Realty. I have been living in Staten Island across from Midland Beach my whole life. Currently, I am a student at Brooklyn Technical High School, becoming a senior in the fall. My career goal is to be a photographer because I really enjoy taking photos of nature, city, people, etc.

Experience At Tom Crimmins Realty

In the beginning of year 2018, I was planning on looking for some work experience because I've never gotten a job before. In the months of February-March, I have signed up for a program called Summer Youth Employment Program. This program has a lottery based system, which you must be chosen by random pick; I was lucky and got chosen.

Next, I…

Meeting Manav

I started working at Tom Crimmins Realty as an intern in the beginning of July and I have loved it every day since then! When I first starting working here I honestly didn't know what to expect and if anything I was a little nervous about working at the fastest growing real estate company on the North Shore. But I have never worked in such an amazing environment where I have been treated like part of the "team" even if I was just an intern writing blogs. The fact that Suzanne & Tom Crimmins and his family are actively involved in the business made the office also quite welcoming, as I pretty much knew they genuinely cared about their business.

My favorite part of the business would most definitely be the people I work…

Meet Our Interns: Ksenija Farafonova

When I began working at Tom Crimmins Realty I knew very little about marketing and the real estate business. However, at Tom Crimmins Realty I quickly learned about the business, as well as the importance of teamwork and an efficient, cohesive working environment. The working staff was always very friendly and willing to help each other, or if one of the interns needed help. In addition, Tom and Suzanne Crimmins were always actively involved in the business and were often present at the office. This created a very welcoming environment, and allowed the interns to meet the professionals who inspired them. Through this experience I made many talented friends who share my passions and goals.

Hailing from none other than Arrochar, local celebrity Elissa Montanti is working hard to improve the lives of children all around the world.

It all started in 1997, after reading the poignant words of Kenan Malkic, a child who lost both arms and one leg in the Bosnian civil war. “God and all merciful people to help me getting prosthetics," he pleaded, and Elissa could not ignore. Elissa faced a period of depression following the loss of her relatives, that left her confused and lost. However, she was inspired by the struggle of children in Bosnia-Herzegovina, a province of former Yugoslavia, during their bloody civil war. The Miller Field Hangar

Before its military days, Miller Field was home to one of the most prominent American families of the 19th century. In 1836, Cornelius "Commodore" Vanderbilt began purchasing farmland in New Dorp and owned most of what became Miller Field by 1843. The farmland was inherited by his son William, who transferred this property to his son, George Washington Vanderbilt in 1885. By 1906, he moved the 24 room "White House" to the center of the farm. George Washington Vanderbilt's claim to fame is for building Biltmore in North Carolina. Biltmore is still today, the largest home in America. The "White House" was a periodic home to him until his death in 1914. Vanderbilt's heirs sold the property to the federal government in…
