Ralph's Famous Italian Ices began in the hands of Ralph Silvestro. Silvestro came to the United States from Italy when he was a young man and began making his ices in 1928, selling them throughout Staten Island without any retail locations. His treats quickly became a Staten Island summertime favourite and earned him enough to open his first retail location in 1949, on Port Richmond Avenue.

Dear Trick-or-Treaters of Staten Island,

Halloween will soon be here and we here at Tom Crimmins Realty are celebrating as well, and we are concerned about your safety and the safety of the community, so here are a few helpful tips to keep your evening fun and safe:

  1. Never go trick-or-treating alone when going from house to house.
  2. Plan a route in advance that is well lit, especially when going to unfamiliar neighborhoods and different houses.
  3. Wear comfy shoes.
  4. Make sure your costume is a good length, but not too long so you stay warm and don't trip.
  5. Avoid masks that make it difficult to see and breathe.
  6. Don't eat any candy until you get home and your parents check it.
