Staten Island is broken up into three different community districts which are: North Shore, Mid-Island, and South Shore.

Today we will be breaking down all the history about the Staten Island neighborhood, Meiers Corners. Meiers Corners and the nearby Westerleigh neighborhood are occasionally confused, however Westerleigh is often considered to refer to the region immediately west of Castleton Corners and north of Victory Boulevard, whereas Meiers Corners is located south of that line. The neighborhood known as "Meiers Corners" also includes the business area where Watchogue Road, Jewett Avenue, Victory Boulevard, and Bradley Avenue all converge. Up until the early 1980s, three city bus lines stopped there.

The neighborhood was named after Joachim Meier, a well-known 18th-century Dutch citizen who resided at the Martling-Cozine House, one of Staten Island's oldest privately owned residences that was still surviving until it was destroyed in 1981. The home was situated close to the intersection of Bradley Avenue and Watchogue Road.

The elevation progressively rises south of Victory Boulevard, and the southern portion of the neighborhood is located on a high plateau (also called Manor Heights), where Susan E. Wagner High School is located. The school, which was inaugurated in 1968 and bears the name of the late Robert F. Wagner Jr.'s wife, was constructed in response to the borough's increasing need for classroom space as a result of the building of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in 1964.

Meiers Corners is served by the S57, S61, S62, S91, S92 and S93 as the local buses. For the express buses, SIM31, SIM32 and SIM33 also serve the neighborhood.

As you may see, Staten Island exudes so much history that is still honored throughout our neighborhoods. Meiers Corners is home to many people from Staten Island. The neighborhood is covered in every corner with many food spots, transportation, parks and schools. This neighborhood is worth learning more about and living.
