Caryn Ogurek is one of our newest agents here at Tom Crimmins Realty. She brings professionalism, integrity and over 20+ years of Real Estate Appraisal experience to our office. It makes her a very qualified Real Estate Agent around for pricing your home just right! Caryn started working as a real estate appraiser in 2002 and worked as an assistant at first. She obtained her certification and started her business, Caryn Michael Appraisals, in 2006.
Backtrack to 1998, prior to stepping into real estate, Caryn became series 7 licensed (amongst several other related licenses) and worked on Wall Street as an assistant trader and an online trading company as well. Soon after the 9/11/2001 tragedy, the very small trading company she was working for had to close its doors. Caryn says, “I immediately started thinking about what direction I wanted my life to go in and a friend of mine told me about an appraisal course he was starting. I decided to sign up with the goal of starting my own business someday. It took a few years of working 12-15 hours a day before I had enough hours to qualify for my certification. Once I received it, I went on my own.” Caryn appraised homes in all 5 boroughs along with Nassau and Suffolk County, New York. As the years went on she started having kids and began to take some areas off her coverage in order to be home more. Eventually she became solely a Staten Island appraiser.
The business has changed a lot over the years and everyone has had to adapt accordingly. It is a business Caryn doesn’t ever see herself leaving but she also had the strong desire to excel in another part of the real estate business. Caryn says, “I met Tom Crimmins many years ago. Him and his wife Suzanne are absolutely two of my favorite people in the business.” Back in 2018 on New Year’s Day - My four year old son Michael was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. It was a very scary time in our life. Tom and Suzanne insisted on doing something for my family. They threw a big fundraiser for us and checked in on us constantly. I will never forget that. He is not a healthy 9 year old and I have 3 other boys Benjamin (10) Sam (6) and Gabriel (3).
Caryn says she has wanted to sell real estate for a really long time. After 20 years of walking through houses determining what they are worth, she feels she has the proper knowledge and experience to bring to the table and be able to sell homes, as well as help people find the right ones. “If my life hadn’t taken a crazy turn, this would have happened a lot sooner. With my husband Adam’s support and some of the best agents in the business to guide me, I look forward to an exciting journey.” We welcome Caryn to our company and know she will accomplish a lot here.
