History of West Brighton
The Dutch settled this portion of the island back in the 15th century. Eventually, English settlers moved in and had a lasting effect on West Brighton. In fact, the neighborhood is home to one of the oldest continuously operating cricket clubs in the country, the Staten Island Cricket Club, which was established in 1872.
