Huguenot

Sandwiched between Rossville, Woodrow, and Charleston, the Staten Island neighborhood of Huguenot is a community located within the Island's South Shore. The feeling of Huguenot is more like that of a small town rather than a suburban area outside of a city. Houses are bit farther apart, and healthy vegetation lives along Huguenot Avenue and in the residential streets all the way down to the waterfront. Read More...

Huguenot Neighborhood Summary

Huguenot's real estate market features a number of upscale homes as well as more economical single-family dwellings and townhouses. Whatever your home buying budget, there's something for everyone in Huguenot.

History of Huguenot

The French Huguenots originally settled this section of Staten Island in the late 1700s through the 1800s. During the mid-19th century, a train station was constructed in Huguenot along the Staten Island Railroad, bringing more and more residents to the area with each passing year. In spite of the influx that continued into the 1970s and beyond, Huguenot is still considered one of the more remote neighborhoods on Staten Island, with acres of parkland to keep it shielded from the faster pace of more crowded areas.
