Freshkills Park

The Freshkills Park is a project that is working on transforming what was once a landfill into a beautiful park. This area is 2,200-acres big. That is nearly three times the size of Central Park! The park is situated at the very beginning of the Mid Island area of Staten Island. Although the park is not yet open, it will feature trails for both hikers, bikers, and horseback riders, athletic courts, kayak rides, sculptures, picnic spots, and eateries. When the park fully opens in 2036, it will be the largest of all New York City parks!
