When you're staging a home for sale, you want to make it as appealing as possible for obvious reasons. Even if the outdoors aren't exactly in your favor, you can still create an unforgettable interior that will leave everyone impressed and longing for a second look...or maybe even an offer to purchase.

Embrace The Season

Catch the seasonal spirit and place festive accents throughout the home like Christmas trees, ornaments and holiday vignettes. Although there are many possibilities for wintertime decorations, be sure your choices are tasteful, but not overdone. Too many blinking lights or faux wreaths can look tacky, so use your best judgment as you decorate. "Less is more" rings quite true in this scenario.

Westerleigh Improvement Society Christmas PartyOwners Suzanne and Tom Crimmins joins Council Member Steven Matteo, a few of our agents and guests to celebrate the holidays at the Immanuel Union Church with the Westerleigh Improvement Society

Our friends, the Westerleigh Improvement Society, hosted their annual Christmas Party at the Immanuel Union Church. Council Member Steve Matteo was in attendance, who is a fellow Westerleigh residence.

As most of you may know, the Westerleigh Improvement Society aims to address concerns in the community and preserve the beauty of Westerleigh through ongoing projects. Some of their successful projects this year consisted of: a street survey regarding “street pavement conditions, street signs and painted lineage”, “land use” and rezoning the…

Although it seems too early to start preparing for Christmas, it is soon upon us!

We have started our Toy Drive and are asking for any donations. The past toy drives were sponsored by the CYO. Last drive produced over 500 toys and were distributed mainly to the community. Majority of the toys were given to an afterschool program, Physical Fitness and Wellness Program, and children in Port Richmond.

This year, all toys will go to the CYO for further distribution to various needy organizations.

Tom Crimmins Realty will be accepting donations, you can drop off toys at our 304 Manor Road office in Westerleigh.

Please share with family and friends!

Yet another year of sold out Spooktacular fun at the Staten Island Zoo this past weekend. The jungle exhibit was turned into a Frozen theme attraction and the safari exhibit became the ever popular haunted house. Other attractions included: Zoo Family Feud, sit down show for the Wizard of Oz, a walk through Candy Land and a "Transylvania's Got Talent" show.

Tom Delese, a former toy and industrial designer, as well as retail advertising account executive at Staten Island Advance, is the mastermind behind the Souvenir Family Portrait Booth. Tom Carnesecchi, a fellow colleague of Delese's from Staten Island Advance, assisted in building the family oriented booth. The same backdrop and decorations have been used since the first year - back in 2004.

Every year families go pumpkin picking in search for the right jack-o'-lantern to ornate their porch. You take the time to carve the best face and cross your fingers hoping it won't rot and mold.

Let's first identify why Jack's scary face turns into a frown after a week or two. The pumpkin guts that you throw out actually keep the vegetable from rotting; without those guts, the pumpkin becomes dehydrated and fungus attacks the inside. It's important when you pick your pumpkin that there are no gouges or bumps, and avoid soft spots! Imperfections can make Jack different from the others, but he will also become the first to be invaded by bacteria.

Try To Buy Fresh

Choosing a pumpkin from the local grocery store is convenient, but not the best…

Staten Island Spooktacular
Tom, Ryan and Suzanne Crimmins (left to right)

Staten Island Zoo had a fun and fright filled weekend with their sold out Spooktacular. Some attractions included a doll house and Transylvania tour. Tom Crimmins Realty's very own Tom Delese had hosted a souvenir family portrait booth which was inspired by a pop-up Halloween card. All money and donations that were raised were given to the zoo.

"I bought six Halloween cards to get an idea from," said Delese. "I wanted something that I wanted to step into. I wanted to step into a graveyard."

The idea originated nine years ago when Delese, a former toy and industrial designer, worked at the Staten Island Advance. The Advance offered Spooktacular keychains and newspaper as…
