Who Am I?
Hi everyone, my name is Joyee Tan, and I am an intern working at Tom Crimmins Realty. I have been living in Staten Island across from Midland Beach my whole life. Currently, I am a student at Brooklyn Technical High School, becoming a senior in the fall. My career goal is to be a photographer because I really enjoy taking photos of nature, city, people, etc.
Experience At Tom Crimmins Realty
In the beginning of year 2018, I was planning on looking for some work experience because I've never gotten a job before. In the months of February-March, I have signed up for a program called Summer Youth Employment Program. This program has a lottery based system, which you must be chosen by random pick; I was lucky and got chosen.
Next, I had to choose a workplace and chose Tom Crimmins Realty. When I was given the job description of a office job, I was expecting said job to be very boring. I thought I would be sitting at a desk and filing some paperwork. But, I was wrong. When I entered their office at 304 Manor Road, my perspective turned a complete 180. Instead of doing boring paperwork like an office job, I was given tasks of blog writing. My quota was two blogs per day, and it was reasonable to accomplish. I had written the blogs Staten Island Farmers' Market, Beach Cleanups and Why Are They So Important, and many more! Thanks to blog writing, I have exposed myself to interesting, valuable, knowledgeable information on the island and life in general. However, I don't just write blogs; I also edit pictures! As a photographer, editing pictures is a must have and fun to do! So, not only do I obtain work experience, I can do the things I love!
Additionally, the owners, Suzanne & Tom Crimmins, were extremely nice and friendly. They made me feel comfortable at the workplace and makes sure that I am doing okay. Also, the rest of the staff and agents are fantastic people to be with, and they shared some awesome stories with me.
Overall, I am happy working here at Tom Crimmins Realty because the environment isn't too stressful, and everyone gets along.
