Why Should We Improve Our Dining Rooms?

Many people have dining rooms in their house even if it's part of their kitchen. It is one of the most important rooms to be featured in the sale of a home due to how often homeowners socially interact in the space that can be found at the heart of any family's get-together. Dining rooms are not just for eating with the family however, as they are often also used for hosting food parties, having game nights, or interacting with our friends and family. This particular room is special because we can bond over the simplest things with our friends and family while we enjoy our meals. After all, food makes us very happy, and we want to express that happiness in the dining room also!

Some Tips to Improve our Dining Room:

1. Tables

Tables are the most important piece of furniture in a dining room. If we didn't have a table, it wouldn't be considered a dining room. Tables come in many different sizes. Nevertheless, depending on the size of your dining room, you should buy long and wide tables, like in a shape of a rectangle. As for the counter-tops, many people choose to stick with the rectangle shapes to match the dining table or they get an oval counter-top to offset the table. Long and wide rectangular tables are the most recommend because you can accompany a lot of your family members and guests. In addition, many people can share this large table to do their errands. For example, your kids could be in one corner to do homework, you could be on the other side of the table doing work, and etc. Tables make the focal point of the dining room, so you should try to figure out a color scheme to match your decor and walls of the room. Tables can make or break the aesthetics of the dining room, so choose wisely!

2. Chairs

Chairs are as essential to dining rooms as the tables they are placed with. Many people buy the combination sets of tables and chairs because of the already matching colors and styles. Chairs can vary in a dining room. They can be bar stools for the high up tables and islands, booth chairs for people to sit closer with each other, or just regular chairs for each person to sit in. It varies depending on the table that you have set for your dining room. In the end, the placement of the chairs, quality, size, and color are the important matters. We don't want uncomfortable chairs to sit on.

3. Decor

Decorations are one of the most important parts of furnishing your house. But what are some good decor ideas for a dining room?

Some good starting items include:

  • Photos, paintings, etc. for us to look at while we eat
  • Flower, vase, or any type of center pieces to liven up the decor of table
  • Fireplace could be in living room or dining room. It warms us in the winter and adds a nature organic look to it.
  • Ceiling lights over your table to brighten things up and for aesthetics
  • Candles for those nice scents or some simple dim lighting
  • Table cloths to make our tables look more unique and interesting to look at and in case we spill our food on the table
  • Cabinets are for mostly decoration and holding onto silverware or other items in dining rooms, and they make the room feel much more lively!
  • Silverware for the dining room feel. After all, you need plates, bowls, forks, knifes, etc. to eat your food. Why not decorate your dining room with it?

While all of these things are great for decorating your dining room, just remember that its not just about the decor, or prepping your home for sale, but about the family interactions you and many others will have in this precious space. Whether you live in an apartment in Manhattan, or have a two family home in Westerleigh, always remember that regardless of what your dining space looks like, so long as you can share it with friends and family, its definitely the place to be!
