Throughout this series of blogs, we will be discussing each and every neighborhood on Staten Island as well as breaking down the history, what stands there today and transportation and what community district it falls into. Staten Island is broken up into three different community districts which are: North Shore, Mid-Island, and South Shore.

Today we will be breaking down all the history about the Staten Island neighborhood, Arlington. This neighborhood is home to the North Shore and to the zip code 10303. It is a part of the Mariners' Harbor community and is situated west of Harbor Road and north of the North Shore Branch. Moses Henry Leman, a citizen and Civil War soldier, gave Arlington its name in honor of Arlington National Cemetery. The Arlington Terrace Apartment buildings are located on Holland Avenue in Arlington.

Arlington was served by the Staten Island Railway. The Arlington stop provided service to Arlington until March 31, 1953. The S40, S46, and S48 neighborhood bus lines serve Arlington, the counterparts of the buses only available during rush hour as S90, S96 and S98. The SIM33 and SIM34 are Arlington's express bus lines. I.S. 72 in Heartland Village and P.S. 44 (in Mariners' Harbor) are typically zoned for Arlington residents. Additionally, P.S. 22 and I.S. 51 are closeby schools. Port Richmond High School is the neighborhood high school. 206 South Avenue is the home of a New York Public Library branch.

As you may see, Staten Island exudes so much history that is still honored throughout our neighborhoods. Arlington is home to many people from Staten Island. The neighborhood is covered in every corner with many food spots, transportation, parks and schools. This neighborhood is worth learning more about and living in.
